What to Expect

What to expect:

A thorough history

You probably noticed, or will notice soon, that our intake process is quite detailed.  This helps us to provide the best care by treating the whole person, not just a body part.  The doctor will discuss your relevant medical history with you as part of the decision-making process for your treatment.

An initial examination

All patients are thoroughly examined in order to arrive at a useful diagnosis.  Your complaint is not likely to be originating from a “bone out of place,” but rather a more complex pattern of dysfunction that involves multiple tissues including joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.  Your examination will include relevant orthopedic and neurological testing.  When indicated, imaging such as X-ray, CT or MRI may be ordered (this is rare, and it should be).

A Personalized Treatment Plan

The treatment recommended at the end of your examination is thoughtfully considered, weighing the best available evidence, the clinical experience of your doctor and your preferences and abilities, in order to provide you the greatest level of lasting improvement in the shortest possible time.

Communication with your other doctors

When you are given your treatment plan (with your permission, of course), your other healthcare providers will also be notified about the treatment you receive at Body Shop Chiropractic.  We are a part of your healthcare team, and it’s important for teammates to communicate.

What NOT to expect:

Cookie-cutter chiropractic

Your treatment will be specific to your condition and to your body.  Not everyone will receive the same modality (TENS, ultrasound, massage etc.) and an adjustment at every visit.  Sometimes these therapies, and even the adjustment, are not indicated.

Lengthy treatment plans

According to our internal surveys, most patients feel more than 80% better within 6-8 visits.  Those same patients also rate their satisfaction as either “good” or “excellent.”  Our job is done best when you feel better and have the tools to help yourself in the future.

Payment up-front/Package deals

Similar to professionals in primary care and family medicine, payment for the services you receive at Body Shop Chiropractic is expected within about 30 days of those services being rendered, after any relevant insurance policy has paid its share.  Some patients also choose to pay at the time of service.

Full-Coverage Insurance

You have probably noticed that group insurance policies are not what they used to be.  Almost everyone has a deductible, and even some patients with a co-pay are expected to pay after a certain number of visits in a calendar year.  We will work with you to ensure you receive the in-network benefits on policies for which we are a contracted provider.  We have options available to you that help protect you from high out-of-pocket costs.
